The Stats: Stevens strikes twice as Green beat Walsall

Hosts Forest Green claimed three points against visiting Walsall on Saturday in the England League Two. The game finished 3-1 (3-0).

Forest Green started the match well and took the lead when Mathew Stevens scored after 20 minutes, making it 1-0.

The team increased the lead to 0-2 just before the half-time whistle as Jamille Matt scored.

Straight after the break, Mathew Stevens made his mark and increased Forest Green’s lead.

The goal that reduced the score to 1-3 came in the 90th minute, when Brendan Kiernan scored a goal for Walsall. Walsall were unable to score any more goals. The 1-3 goal was the last goal of the game.

On Tuesday, Walsall face Scunthorpe at Bescot Stadium and Forest Green take on Rochdale away.
