Even if it wasn’t a win, at least Verona ended their wretched run of four straight defeats in the Serie A against Spezia on Saturday. The match finished 1-1 (0-0).
The first half was goalless, but straight after half-time, Eddie Salcedo made his mark as he scored a goal, with an assist by Darko Lazovic, to give Verona the lead.
The equaliser came right at the end of the game, when Riccardo Saponara scored a goal for Spezia, with an assist by Kevin Agudelo. The 1-1 goal was the last goal of the game.
The game was however the fifth in a row without a win for Verona.
Verona have 1 draw and 4 losses with a 3–8 goal difference in the last 5 games, while Spezia have 1 win, 2 draws and 2 losses and a 6–10 goal difference.
With four games remaining, Verona are in ninth place in the table and Spezia are in 15th.
Spezia will play against Napoli on Saturday. Verona will face Torino on Sunday.
