The Data Zone: Madrid rescue point at home against Sevilla

Sevilla were up 1-0 away to Real Madrid in the La Liga. But, in the third period, Madrid clawed their way back into the game and equalised. The game finished 2-2.

The visiting team Sevilla scored the first goal when Fernando scored a goal after 22 minutes, with an assist by Ivan Rakitic, making it 1-0.

The next goal was long overdue. In the 67th minute, Marco Asensio scored a goal, from a pass from Toni Kroos, to equalise for Real Madrid.

Ivan Rakitic gave Sevilla the lead, in the 77th minute.

The equaliser came in the 90th minute, when Eden Hazard scored a goal for Real Madrid, with an assist by Toni Kroos. The 2-2 goal was the last goal of the game.

The result saw Real Madrid’s 15th game in a row without defeat.

Real Madrid have 2 wins and 3 draws with a 7–2 goal difference in the last 5 games, while Sevilla have 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss and a 7–5 goal difference.

With three games remaining, Real Madrid are in second place in the table while Sevilla are in fourth.

Madrid will host Granada on Thursday. Sevilla will face Valencia at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on Wednesday.
