Stats Zone: Manchester City strengthen title grip with another win

League leaders Manchester City continue to impress. With a 2-1 (2-1) win away against Aston Villa, Manchester City recorded yet another victory. This means the team has extended their lead in the Premier League and the gap to second placed Manchester U is now 11 points. However, Manchester U have one game in hand. Aston Villa are in 11th place in the league.

The hosts Aston Villa started best and were already 1-0 up early in the game. After only one minute John McGinn scored a goal, with an assist from Ollie Watkins.

Manchester City equalised to make it 1-1, as Phil Foden scored a goal, with an assist by Bernardo Silva, in the 22nd minute. He has now scored seven Premier League goals this season.

The team took the lead just before the half-time whistle as Rodri scored a goal, with an assist by Bernardo Silva. Manchester City had then turned the match around. The second half was goalless and the game ended with a 2-1 win for Manchester City.

Manchester City’s John Stones was sent off in the 44th minute.

Aston Villa’s Matty Cash was sent off in the 57th minute.

Manchester City have now won 10 straight away games.

Man City will play against Palace on Saturday. Villa will face West Brom on Sunday.
