Match Stats: VfB Stuttgart secure much sought after win

VfB Stuttgart started the match best and took the lead early when Philipp Forster scored a goal after 11 minutes, with an assist by Sasa Kalajdzic, making it 0-1.

After that the game came to a long, indecisive standstill. With more than 30 minutes on the clock, Augsburg’s Florian Niederlechner scored a goal, from a pass from Marco Richter, and equalised.

Sasa Kalajdzic scored the deciding goal in the 74th minute, with an assist by Darko Churlinov. He has now scored 15 Bundesliga goals this season. The 2-1 goal was the last one of the game.

It was still Augsburg’s fifth game in a row without a win.

VfB Stuttgart have 1 win and and 4 losses with a 6–11 goal difference in the last 5 games, while Augsburg have 1 draw 4 losses and a 3–8 goal difference.

With two games remaining, VfB Stuttgart are in ninth place in the table and Augsburg are in 13th.

On Saturday, Stuttgart will host Mönchengladbach at Borussia-Park and Augsburg will host Werder.
