Data Pack: Bilbao end losing run with a 2-1 win against Madrid

Atlethic Bilbao are back on the winning track in the La Liga beating Atletico Madrid 2-1 (1-0) at San Mamés. It was their first win after a six-game drought.

Atlethic Bilbao scored the first goal when Alex Berenguer scored a goal in the 8th minute, making it 0-1. The goal was his eighth on target in the league this season.

After that the game came to a long, indecisive standstill without either team managing to score. Stefan Savic equalised for Atletico Madrid, in the 77th minute.

The deciding goal came right at the end of the game, when Inigo Martinez scored a 2-1 for Atlethic Bilbao, with an assist by Ibai Gomez, what brought the final score to 2-1.

The result saw Atlethic Bilbao’s sixth game in a row without defeat.

Atlethic Bilbao have 1 win and 4 draws with a 4–3 goal difference in the last 5 games, while Atletico Madrid have 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses and a 9–4 goal difference.

Atlethic Bilbao are now in 10th place, while Atletico Madrid are still at the top of the table, two points clear of Real Madrid.

Next time Athletic Club will play against Valladolid on Wednesday at San Mamés. Atletico take on Elche away on Saturday.
