Alaves played well in the La Liga game at home against Granada on Sunday. They steadily steered a 2-1 lead after the second period to a 4-2 win in the end.
Alaves took an early lead when Pere Pons scored a goal after 8 minutes, making it 0-1.
The team also increased their lead to 2-0, as Ruben Duarte scored a goal, with an assist by Florian Lejeune, in the 21st minute.
Granada reduced the score to 2-1 after more than half an hour’s play as Jorge Molina scored a goal, with an assist by Luis Suarez. He has now scored eight La Liga goals this season.
With barely 30 minutes on the clock, Granada’s Antonio Puertas scored a goal, with an assist by Darwin Machis, and equalised.
In the 66th minute, Joselu scored a goal, from a pass from Victor Laguardia, to give Alaves the lead, what was his 11th goal of the season.
Just six minutes later, with an assist by Lucas Perez, it was Luis Rioja who scored a goal ensuring that the team increased the lead to 4-2. The 0-1 goal was the only one of the game.
Granada now have four straight defeats.
Alaves have 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss with a 9–8 goal difference in the last 5 games, while Granada have 1 win and and 4 losses and a 6–12 goal difference.
With one game remaining, Alaves are in 15th place in the table and Granada are in 10th.
On Sunday, Alaves will play Sevilla at 8pm and Granada will play Getafe at 5:30 pm.
