Augsburg’s players were treated to the taste of victory again as they beat Werder Bremen 2-0 (0-0) at home. It was their first after five games in a row without a win in the Bundesliga.
Augsburg were left with a man down early on, when Ruben Vargas was set off in the 13th minute.
Werder Bremen’s Christian Gross was sent off in the 49th minute.
The first half finished 0-0 and it took until the 57th minute before Rani Khedira scored a goal, with an assist by Robert Gunny, to give Augsburg the lead.
The 2-0 goal came in the 90th minute, when Daniel Caligiuri scored a goal for Augsburg. The goal was his sixth on target in the league this season. The 2-0 goal was the last one of the game.
It was Werder Bremen’s ninth game in a row without a win.
