Burnley 2-4 Chelsea: Pulisic introduces himself to English game
USA national team captain Christian Pulisic to the English Premier League by scoring a perfect hat-trick to help Chelsea beat Burnley 4-2 at Turf Moor on Saturday.
The big money signing from Borussia Dortmund had not seen much game time in Frank Lampard’s side this season but has given the young manager something to think about in the near future.
Pulsic opened the scoring midway through the first half when he latched onto a loose pass from Matthew Lowton before running at the Burnley defence and finishing low, across goalkeeper Nick Pope.
The 21-year-old doubled his personal tally for Chelsea and for his side on the day on the stroke of half-time when he picked up another loose pass from the Burnley defence before firing home from 20 yards with the aid of a big deflection.
The American put the game to bed just before the hour when he headed home Mason Mount’s cross from six yards out to complete his hat-trick.
William blasted Chelsea into a 4-0 lead two minutes later before the hosts scored two consolation goals in the final five minutes to make the scoreline look less emphatic.
Three points move the Blues back into joint third with Leicester City.
