Sheff Utd 1-0 Arsenal: Blades upset Gunners

Sheffield United caused an upset in the English Premier League on Monday night with a 1-0 win over Arsenal at Bramall Lane.

The Blades were among the favorites for relegation this season after the promotion from the second tier as runners-up.

Chris Wilder has got his side defending very well in the top flight – only conceded more than once in games against Leicester City and Chelsea.

Monday night’s clean sheet against the Gunners means Dean Henderson is tied with Manchester City’s Ederson for the most clean sheets through nine games (four each).

The only goal of the game came after half hour when Jack O’Connell leaped unmarked from a corner to head the ball down into the path of Lys Mousset to finish from inside the six-yard box. Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno had actually pushed the striker into an onside position as the corner was taken.

Arsenal rarely threatened to equalise, with Nicolas Pepe squandering the game’s best chance when he scuffed wide from six yards at 0-0.

Victory moves Sheffield United into ninth place in the table, whilst Arsenal fell outside the top four following wins for Chelsea and Leicester City over the weekend.
