
Argentina 2-0 Venezuela: Arch-rivals to clash in semi-finals
Argentina have set up a 2019 Copa America semi-final against arch-rivals and hosts Brazil after beating Venezuela 2-0 in the quarter-finals.
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero was involved in both goals as Argentina are one game away for their third straight final in this competition.
Aguero’s low drive was flicked in by Lautaro Martinez after only 10 minutes before Venezuela goalkeeper Wuilker Farinez spilled the striker’s shot for Giovani Lo Celso to tap home Argentina’s second in the final 20 minutes.
Argentina goalkeeper Franco Armani only had one save to make all game as the South American minnows rarely threatened throughout the 90 minutes.
Lionel Scaloni’s side will face Brazil in Mineirao on Tuesday after the tournament hosts edged past Paraguay on penalties following a 0-0 draw.
Argentina have reached the previous two Copa America finals but were beaten by Chile on both occasions. Should they overcome Brazil in the semi-finals they will be the favourites to lift thee trophy this time around.
