Bayern Munich 1-2 Real Madrid: La Liga side win in Germany
Real Madrid pulled off a remarkable 2-1 win at the Allianz Arena in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.
Zinedine Zidane’s side are looking to reach their third successive final having won the first two and have got off to the perfect start in Germany.
The 2017-18 Bundesliga champions went ahead on 28 minutes when Joshua Kimmich caught Kaylor Navas out at his near post with a powerful effort.
Bayern Munich had the majority of possession and created more chances but were pegged back just before half-time with a fine finish from the edge of the area from left-back Marcelo.
Franck Ribery had a one-on-one denied and earlier could have had another one but for a heavy first touch. The experienced French forward put in a good show but ended up on the losing side when Marco Asensio smashed home what proved to be the winner on 57 minutes.
The second leg takes place at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Tuesday night and you can be sure this tie isn’t over just yet. As both teams have nothing to play for domestically you can expect weakened teams fielded for their respective weekend matches.
